Study On The Composites Of Waterborne Epoxy Resin

Due to the continuous improvement of environmental standards,regulations, legal and the increase in human awareness of environmental protection,the environmentally friendly chemical materials have been concerned widely.The development of the waterborne epoxy resin products without or with little volatile organic compounds has become a consensus.The waterborne epoxy resin has many unique advantages of its own,such as easiness to use,no fire hazard,no environmental pollution and so on.A kind of polyester type polyol was synthesized by the reaction between polyethylene glycol (PEG-1000) and methyl hexahydrophthalic anhydride (MHHPA) in the presence of catalyst.The waterborne polyurethane (WPU) was prepared by the reaction between the resulting polyol and MDI in the presence of catalyst,and then two end groups of the resulting product was reacted with phenol.The polyester type polyol and waterborne polyurethane were characterized by FTIR spectroscopy.The activation of the WPU was investigated using polyamine XCT-802and DETA as curing agent,respectively. The adhesion strength from the WPU on wood sample was examined using two curing agents at different curing temperature and curing time. The waterborne epoxy resin was obtained by the chemical reaction between polyethylene glycol(PEG)and biosphenol-A epoxy resin.The modified epoxy resin can have self-emulsifying and retain epoxy as much as possible at the same time.Then the WPU was mixed with the waterborne epoxy resin,and then the mixture was cured with the XCT-802or DETA.The mechanical properties of the composites of waterborne epoxy resin and WPU were dicussed,it has excellent integrated performances,and the composites can be used as a kind of adhesives.In this paper, the acrylic emulsion was mixed with the waterborne epoxy resin, the compatibility and the viscosity and the color of the composites were studied.The adhesion strength from the composites on wood sample was discussed.Then,we draw the modified starch into the composites of the acrylic emulsion and the waterborne epoxy resin.The mechanical properties of the composites of waterborne epoxy resin, the acrylic emulsion and the modified starch were dicussed.The obtained waterborne composites can be used as a kind of size because of satisfactory performance, and there are good prospects for applications in the textile field.
