To date people have designed and synthesized a large number of traditional liquid crystal compounds like bar whose molecular strcture is slender and2,3rings constitute molecule nuclear. Between ring and ring are connected directly or through a central group, and the two ends of molecule. With the development of liquid crystal chemistry, design and synthesis of the new structure liquid crystal compounds have become the fundamental task of molecule design. Multi-armed liquid crystal is playing a more and more important role in the sophisticated technique field. When the introduction of charity, the Liquid Crystalline Polymers(LCPs) combine unique optical properties of cholesteric liquid crystals with physical properties of liquid crystalline polymers (LCPs),which have been one of important research projects in the field of LCPs.Because of the excellent properties, cholesteric liquid crystalline polymers have potential applications in numerous areas, especially in the field of electronic material,display material,nonlinear optics and specialty organic coating etc. In this paper, we designed and synthesized some multi-armed liquid crystall compounds with chiral nuclear as the center.In this thesis, eleven multi-armed liquid crystall combounds were designed and synthesized. They were bis(4-(4-ethoxybenzoyloxy)phenyl)’-4,4’-((3aS,6aS)-hexahydrofuro [3,2-b]furan-3,6-diyl)bis(oxy)bis(oxomethylene)bis(4,1-phenylene)diadipate(MA1),tetrakis(4-(4-ethoxybenzoyloxy)phenyl)’,",’"-5,5’-((3aR,6aR)-hexahydrofuro[3,2-b]furan-3,6-diyl)bis (o-xy)bis(oxomethylene)bis(benzene-5,3,1-triyl)tetraadipate(MA2),’,",’"-5-(((3aR,6aR)-6-(3,5-tris(6-(4-(4-ethoxybenzoyloxy)phenoxy)-6-oxohexanoyloxy)benzoyloxy)hexahydrofuro[3,2-b]furan-3-yloxy)carbonyl)benzene-1,2,3-triyl tris(4-(4-ethoxybenzoyloxy)phenyl) triadipate (MA3), bis(4-(4-ethoxybenzoyloxy)phenyl)’-(3aR,6aR)-hexahydrofuro[3,2-b]furan-3,6-diyl diadipate(MA4),10-bis(4-(4-ethoxybenzoyloxy)phenyl)’1,1-4,4’-((3aS,6aS)-hexahydrofuro[3,2-b]furan-3,6-diyl)bis(oxy)bis(oxomethylene)bis(4,1-phenylene)bis(decanedioate)(MA5),10-tetrakis(4-(4-ethoxybenzoyloxy)phenyl)’"1,"1,’1,1-5,5’-((3aR,6aR)-hexahydrofuro[3,2-b]furan-3,6-diyl)bis(oxy)bis(oxomethylene)bis(benzene-5,3,1-triyl) tetrakis(decanedioate)(MA6),’"1,"1,’1,1-5,5’-(((3aR,6aR)-6-(3,4,5-tris(10-(4-(4-ethoxybenzoyloxy)phenoxy)-10-oxodecanoylo-xy)benzoyloxy)hexahydrofuro[3,2-b]furan-3-yloxy)carbonyl)benzene-1,2,3-triyl10-tris(4-(4- ethoxybenzoyloxy)phenyl) tris(decanedioate)(MA7),10-bis(4-(4-ethoxybenzoyloxy)phenyl)’l,1-(3aR,6aR)-hexahydrofuro[3,2-b]furan-3,6-diylbis(decanedioate)(MA8),10-bis(4’-(4-ethoxy-benzoyloxy)biphenyl-4-yl)’1,1-4,4’-((3aR,6aR)-hexahydrofuro[3,2-b]furan-3,6-diyl)bis(oxy) bis(oxomethylene)bis(4,1-phenylene)bis(decanedioate)(M A9),10-bis(4’-(4-ethoxybenzoyloxy) biphenyl-4-yl)’1,1-(3aR,6aR)-hexahydrofuro[3,2-b]furan-3,6-diyl bis(decanedioate)(MA10),"1,"1,’1,1-5,5’-(((3aR,6aR)-6-(3,4,5-tris(10-(4’-(4-ethoxybenzoyloxy)biphenyl-4-yloxy)-10-ox o-decanoyloxy)benzoyloxy)hexahydrofuro [3,2-b] furan-3-yloxy)carbonyl)benzene-1,2,3-triyl10-tris(4’-(4-ethoxybenzoyloxy)biphenyl-4-yl) tris(decanedioate)(MA11).The structures and optical and thermodynamic properties of the obtained liquid crystalline monomers were investigated by FT-IR spectroscopy and1H-NMR,differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and polarizing optical microscopy (POM).Results of experiments and analyses indicated that along with liquid crystal arm’s increasing, the liquid crystalline phase scope increases;along with molecular chain’s growthing, the liquid crystalline phase scope has the increase tendency; along with molecular chain degree of hardness enlargement, the liquid crystalline phase scope has the increase tendency.
