With the development of society and economy, human society has an increasing demand for energy. Throng more than200years large-scale exploration, the storage of oil and natural gas on land is less and less. Eyesight of exploration for oil and gas has shifted to the vast ocean, where large scale oil and gas plates lay. Off-shore plates are bases for ocean drilling, and flare booms are fundamental instruments. This project intended to check the structure strength of flare boom, provide valuable reference for daily operation and structure optimization.1. This article presented the principle of Finite Element Method (FEM), which is been widely used in many FEM software. Using FEM software, the structures of flare boom were been analyzed.2. According to the condition flare boom supposed to work in, corresponding loads were been extracted into different conditions. Based on professional CAD software, equivalent and simplified structure model was been established. Then precise grids were been divided. All models and grids were inputted into ANSYS, which is professional on FEM analysis. The results reveal structure where on the middle of the truss, near constraints of cables, shows stress convergence. Additional modal analysis was been carried out, natural frequency is been measured. Compared to the frequency of excitation sources, resonance is likely to happen.3. Based on the static analysis, counter force was been measured, which is apply on the two cylindrical parts. Analysis of rotate steady pin and base shaft revealed that they lack endurance under harsh conditions; even ultimate strength meets the requirements’. Optimization is needed to prevent stress convergence.
