The energy issues become increasingly prominent in China and abroad. As a new type of energy Coal bed methane is more and more remarkable. Coal bed methane development entered a period of rapid development period. Coal bed methane production in China is only10years old. Compared with the developed countries’CBM production, Coal bed methane production in china is still in the initial stage. The various mining facilities and safety facilities are not perfect. In order to get knowledge of coal bed methane production scene timely and accurately, this paper developed the Coal bed methane remote monitoring system based on3G network. The coal bed methane sites that are located coal bed methane production scene often locate in the mountains or inaccessible places. So using a wired video surveillance will face a series of problems such as high cost, long construction period, and difficult to maintain. In this paper, using the3G wireless network to build video surveillance network can overcome the above problems, and achieve the security monitoring purposes.In this paper we elaborate the project from the network construction, the composition of the system hardware and software platform design. China Unicom’s WCDMA network is used as3G network. We use the virtual private network (VPN) technology to make the monitoring center and each node of the device in the same local area network. In this way the various parts can communicate normally. The hardware part of the system is composed by the front-end video capture devices,3G communications equipment and back-end monitoring center computer. In order to filter and screen the image information more accurately and effectively. We adopt a monitoring strategies based on the event-driven. The front-end video capture device is embedded with a background subtraction algorithm based on dynamic threshold anomaly target detection algorithm which is the core algorithm for the event-driven. In order to reduce the bandwidth requirements, and save3G transmission flowing, Jpeg compression format is used for image compression processing. We use C#software platform to realize the function of monitoring platform. Software system uses the frame difference method and edge detection method to screen the image. The system also use the H.264format to store image information to save the storage space greatly.
