The sulfates (such as hydrogen sulfide, mercaptoamino-acid) have been known to do harm to living organisms. However, they also play vital roles in some physiological processes. It has important scientific significance, therefore, to form a real-time and quantitative method to detect the distribution and content of the sulfates and to have a research in the production, procee and metabolism of the sulfates. In this paper, a novel Ru(Ⅱ) complex [Ru(bpy)2(bpy-AM-DPA)](PF6)2has been designed and synthesized. Ru(Ⅱ) complex can coordinate with Cu(Ⅱ) to yield the binuclear Ru(Ⅱ)-Cu(Ⅱ) complex, accompanied with phosphorescence quenchment in water solutions. Because the sulfates show higher affinity to Cu(Ⅱ) than other metal ions, the sulfide anions in water solutions can destroy the binuclear Ru(Ⅱ)-Cu(Ⅱ) structure, which leads to remarkable phosphorescence enhancement. The dose-dependent phosphorescence enhancement shows a good linearity with detection limits. Based on this Ru(Ⅱ) complex, a highly sensitive phosphorescence method for the detection of sulfide anions in aqueous solutions was established.Meanwhile, I have synthesized another novel Ru(Ⅱ) complex [Ru(bpy)2(bpy-Se)2+which has been characterized with NMR and MS spectras. And the results indicate that the complex is what I expected. It is envisioned that the complex can detect the mercaptoamino-acid in aqueous media by optimizing the reactive system.
