| Currently, test system based on wired network is generally used to achieve measuring and controlling of the roll forming process. This system utilizes sensors to measure force parameters directly and transmits data by a wired network, often with heavy arrangements of wire, unsuitable wires for placing and weak expandability. To solve the problems of the traditional roll forming machines’testing system, a new testing system program, based on ZigBee wireless communication technology, is proposed and can be used to test three force parameters (roll force, torque and speed) of the roll forming machines.According to the demand of the roll forming machines’testing system, comparing many wireless communication technologies, ZigBee is chosen to build a star network structure wireless testing system, including a coordinator node and many sensors nodes. In the hardware design period, modular design concept is applied in finishing following modules:such as wireless communication module, which take CC2430chip as a core hardware, the data acquisition module, which can be more intelligent by integrating the signal modulation circuit and the traditional sensor. And the software side module, which uses Z-Stack to establish the ZigBee wireless network and transmit data. The communication between the coordinator and the host PC use serial communication protocol.Finally, we validate the performance of the wireless testing system. The results meet the system requirements. ZigBee technology, applied in the roll forming machines’testing system, reduces the problem caused by placing wires, the power consumption and the cost of the system. On the other hand, the system expandability is improved. |
