Energy crisis is an enormous challenge for human’s development. As animportant transitional and alternative energy source, oil shale is worth researching.In this thesis, dry distillation pyrolysis mechanism and determination of oil yieldof oil shale has been studied. The preservation conditions of oil shale has beenanalyzed, as a result, the optimum preservation condition was proposed. Moderntechnology has been used to research the pyrolysis kinetics and decomposed productsof oil shale organics, then the carbonization pyrogenation mechanism can bediscovered. Finally, we improved the analytical method of oil content, then did aresearch on the parameters which have an influence on Retorting reaction.In the storage conditions of the oil shale, we analyzed the influencing factorssuch as the storage temperature, particle size, gas atmospheres and light in the processof preservation. Via measuring the changes of gas volatile content and composition,oil shale organics quality and structure, it confirmed that the optimum conditionswere storage temperature less than20℃, particle size bigger than2mm, sealed withnitrogen, and placed in dark.The thermoanalysis technology has been used to research the retorting process,then the retorting temperature range can be divided into some different temperatureregions, it provided the experimental data for the mechanism of oil-producing andcombustion. We analyzed the decomposition products of the different temperatureregions by GC-MS technology, discussed the relationship between the temperatureand pyrolysis products, it provided the theoretical explanation for the process andmechanism of cracking reaction.We put forward a new absorbing collection method aim at the shortcoming in theprocess of assaying oil content, and absorbed the shale oil and water of retortingprocess respectively through using oil absorption and water absorbing materials, thendetermined the oil content and water content by weighing the weight of materials.The gas chromatography technology was used to confirm the feasibility of this method, it provided the basis for the accurate determination of oil content and watercontent of oil shale. On this basis, we investigated the influence of the factors on thedetermination of shale oil, such as heating rate, particle size, final temperature and theretention time by combining the GC-MS, IR, TG technology and so on, finally got theoptimum determination conditions.
