Polypropylene material play an important role in economy and people’s daily life. Polypropylene material has brought great convenience to our lives, but also caused pollution. Therefore, to produce polypropylene material with the possibility of degradation in the natural environment is an important field.Wheat straw fiber is a renewable organic resource that has excellent degradability in nature. Polypropylene material can be modified by addition of wheat straw fiber to improve the degradability. The composite is environmental materials that can be greatly reduce the cost as well as enlarge the usage field. It has great importance in the research and the development of polypropylene.Straw/polypropylene composites were prepared through the matrix of polypropylene made from Yanchang Petroleum Yan’an Refiney, using the straw fiber from Shaanxi Guanzhong as the reinforcing material. Wheat straw fiber/polypropylene composites process, the influence of surface modification treatment of straw, straw powder particle size and add the amount of compatibilizer addition on the composite performance was studied, and the physical properties of the composite determination.The result indicate that the optimized condition of wheat straw fiber/polypropylene composites prepared by continuous extrusion process were the screw speed of200r.p.m, and the optimum temperature region of extruder from the first to the sixth were90℃,120℃,160℃,165℃,170℃and170℃. optimal mechanical properties of the composite material were obtained from the addition of silane coupling agent of1.5wt%, the straw surface modified by treatment with HP-172, the diameter of stalk powder particle was0.2mm, the addition ratio of the straw powder was30wt%, the addition ratio of the compatibilizer agent MAPP of5wt%. The thermal and degradation properties of the composites increases with the increases of straw powder, and the processing liquidity decreased, while the water resistance, the corrosive property of the acid and alkali, and the density of the composites stay stable.
