Now, sheet-metal components accounts for a great proportion in the Mechanical Products. There are more and more sheet-metal equipment is used in industry and our daily life. In the traditional mode of production, all works about the spread out drawing and nesting are performed manually. In this way, the design of productions is labor-intensive operation. It will take a lot of time. In recent years, with the development of computer technology, traditional mode of production is faced with a rigorous challenge. Meanwhile, under the promotion of information technology and digital manufacturing trends, sheet metal computer aided process planning (CAPP) is one of the useful ways to shorten the production cycle, improve the working efficiency and enhance the competitiveness of enterprise. As a result, research on the key technologies, approximate development of sheet metal and sheet metal CAPP, has important significance and value in engineering.After analyzing the developing model and data structure of Open CASCADE kernel in this paper, the sheet metal unfolding method is combined with Open CASCADE system to build the3D sheet metal unfolding system using VC++tools. The mathematical unfolding models of traditional sheet metal are constructed. Based on the model data and algorithm, the display modules are integrated with the underlying data by calling the Open CASCADE modelling functions to realize3D parametric deployment of sheet metal component.This paper makes analysis and summary on problems and process existing in the traditional sheet metal process planning and design, computer aided process planning system for sheet metal component is developed according to the target. This system can realize the following functions, for example process management of typical sheet metal parts, process flow design of sheet metal parts, the output of process cards and processes cards.To sum up, Using Visual C++and access database in the Microsoft office, the paper develop the system of parametric design and development and computer aided process planning. The whole system has strong practicability and simple operation.
