The reinforcing of polyolefin elastomers with ZDMA and traditionalreinforcements was studied in this article. Several experiments such as mechanicalproperties, dynamic mechanical properties, FIIR analysis, DSC analysis and so onwere done in order to obtain high performance materials, and to expand theapplication fields of POE. ZDMA was used in situ generated and added directly withcarbon black and silica to reinforce POE. The influence of the mass ratio of ZDMAand carbon black or silica, filling amount and ZnO/MMA molar ratio, ZDMA on thePOE was explored, and then through recipe optimization the excellent POE materialswere obtained.The results showed that under the condition of peroxide curing system, the fillercontent and mass ratio of ZDMA, carbon black and silica can influence the POEsignificantly. When ZnO/MMA molar ratio was0.75, good mechanical propertieswere obtained because the excessive acid ensured ZDMA response adequately. TheRPA analysis showed that with the increasing of filling, the Payne effect is moreobviously especially under large strain, the elastic modulus of rubber was decreasedsignificantly. In the temperature scanning, with the temperature increasing, the morefilling was added, the more energy to overcome the chain segments movement, andlarger the loss factor. So when ZDMA was30, carbon black was30or silica contentwas40, POE material not only had high mechanical properties, but also hadexcellent heat aging properties.When ZDMA was directly added with the carbon black to POE,the regressionexperimental design method of two factors and three levels were used on two formula factors with ZDMA and carbon black. The mathematical model wasestablished to simulate the relationship between the mechanical properties of rubberand the two formula factors, and draw the contours of the performances. The resultsshowed that compared to carbon black, ZDMA was more significant. When ZDMAwas25and carbon black was40, system performance was good. The FIIR and DSCanalysis showed that in the mixing process, ZDMA were poly itself which was oneof the reasons that unsaturated carboxylic acid salt was better than otherreinforcement system.Another way to expand the field of material was blending. For the blends ofPOE with EPDM, DCP content, the ratio of POE and EPDM, filling content and soon were investigated. The results showed that POE composites improved themechanical strength and aging resistance of EPDM. When the EPDM/POE ratio was3:2, and the filling content was about60, high mechanical strength and excellentoverall performances materials could be achieved.
