Abstract/Summary:
The effect of hot air aging on structure and physical-mechanical properties ofHNBR is studied in this paper. The effect of different fillers on hot air agingproperties of HNBR is also studied. The thermal aging mechanism is studied byanalyzing the effect of the fillers on the hot air aging properties. The fillers includeSiO2, Carbon black, ZDMA and MDMA. Antioxidants and LiCO3-50can alsoimprove the hot air aging properties of HNBR.The hot air aging test of HNBR without and with reinforcing agents shows that, the anti-aging properties can be improved when HNBR is filled with Carbon black,ZDMA, MDMA, antioxidants and LiCO3-50. When HNBR is reinforced byZDMA/MDMA, the anti-aging properties can be improved obviously, this happensbecause residual ZDMA/MDMA in HNBR continue reacting during the aging process, such as grafting reaction, polymerization and crosslinking reaction, and thesebehaviors can protect molecular chains from breaking up, thus thermal stability ofHNBR can be improved. While antioxidants are helpful to improve thermal agingproperties, LiCO3-50can improve the thermal aging properties of HNBR obviously.HNBR reinforced by different reinforcing agents has lower loss factor and higherstorage modulus compared with HNBR without reinforcing agents in the dynamicmechanical analysis (DMA). The loss factors of HNBR reinforced by differentreinforcing agents decrease, the glass transition temperatures shift to highertemperatures and storage modulus increase gradually as aging time extensing. The results of attenuated total reflection (ATR) indicated that crosslinkingreaction takes place in HNBR and carbonyl groups occur during aging process. Moreover, the reinforcing agents has changed in thermal aging process, such ashydroxyl groups on surface of SiO2reduced, ZDMA and MDMA both polymerized inhot air aging test.
