Manufacture And Application Of Special Composites Of Automobile Seat Frame

Automobile lightweight is the direction of the modern automobile development, while the fiber reinforced thermoplastic composites that play an important role in automotive industry have been widely applied in many parts of automobile. Two kinds of special composite materials (LFRT and GMT) are prepared according to the request of automobile seat frame.LFRT was prepared by premixing powder impregnation process and double belts press, and the mechanical properties and thermal properties of LFRT were affected by fiber content, single and hybrid fiber length, fiber dispersion and fiber diameter, and the morphology of impact fracture were analyzed by scanning electron microscopy. The results show that the mechanical properties of LFRT are evidently increased by fiber content, and the mechanical properties of LFRT prepared with hybrid fiber lengths are stronger than that prepared with single fiber length, and fiber bundles will reduce the mechanical properties of LFRT.GMT was prepared by using three layers of PP films and two layers of fiber mats by double belts press.The influences of process conditions (forming pressure and strip line speed), fiber mat, matrix composition and compatilizer content on mechanical properties of the GMT were studied. Process conditions have evidently effect on the properties of the GMT, and that also related to composite composition such as fiber mat, matrix composition and compatibility.Finally, two kinds of seat frames were prepared with the GMT by flow molding, the effects of forming pressure and mold temperature on the flowability of GMT are discussed, and its defects of flow and resolutions are summarized. The surface integrity of the seat frames seem great when the molding pressure is10MPa and the mold temperature is120℃.
