Graphene and its derivative, graphene oxide (GO) are new materials with excellent physical and chemical properties. This study fabricated good biomaterials by combining graphene or GO with biopolymers with important theoretical and practical values. This article focused on chitosan (CS) chemically modifying graphene oxide (GO-CS) materials, preparing films and porous materials composed of pure CS, GO/CS physical complexes and GO-CS chemical compounds, resepectively. Meanwhile, composite materials consisting of carrageenan (Car), as well as the GO and Car mixtures were also fabricated by methods of solution casting and vacuum refrigerating, severally. The work determined their chemical structures and internal morphology by IR Spectrum, TGA, SEM, and XPS, and examined their mechanical, physical and biological properties by testing their tensile strength, porosity, water absorption and biocompatibility. The experimental results show that both GO chemically modified chitosan materials and GO physically modified Car all have good stability, considerable homomorphism and good mechanical performances, providing a referenced basis for their application ofbiomedical materials.
