Catalyst system and several kinds of reactors used in industrial F-T synthesis were introduced, especially the most widely focused slurry bubble column reactor(SBCR) and its advantages over other reactors. As an important tool to simulate fluid flow, including multiphase flow, computational fluid dynamics software-Fluent was introduced. Flow patterns and importance of its simulation in SBCR were also described and analyzed.Related set of models and parameters in Fluent to simulate the turbulent flow was given. The whole process of flow state, from the inlet of syngas to the final turbulence under certain circumstance, was exhibited and the result showed that central plume region, fast bubble flow region, descending flow region and vertical flow region in churn-turbulent flow did exist. The influences of operation temperature, gauge pressure, inlet velocity of gas, mole ratio of H2and CO, static liquid height and catalyst concentration on the turbulent state of gas-liquid-solid system in SBCR were investigated. The effect of these factors on gas holdup, average density of mixture, average gas velocity and average turbulent energy of the mixture were also discussed.
