As the steel cord conveyor belts of the large scale continuous transportation equipment are impacted by high fall and sharp weight, with poor impact resistance, low tear resistance, short working life and so on, it is much easier to cause the conveyer belt occur rubber matrix tear, steel wire rope fractured and the belt penetrated.This paper based on viscoelasticity established materials impacting conveyor belt differential equation, deduced the factor of influencing conveyor belt impact effect initially. Though dimensional method, simplified the key parameter of indicating conveyor belt Impact property, and analyzed ball impacting steel wire rope force situation and the compressive deformation of ball and rubber.Based on ANSYS/LS-DYNA explicit dynamics software, for the purpose of impact failure established steel cord conveyor belt impact finite element model using common node conveyor belt composite structure separation modeling method. Simulated and analyzed conveyer belt deformation, energy variation, stress distribution, found that in the impact process the steel wire ropes are the main supporting body, and they absorb most energy. As the involvement of steel wire ropes, the stress wave propagation is influenced and the spread is faster along the wire rope axial. Moreover, the equivalent stress of the steel wire rope is often larger than adjacent rubber matrix’s, and its distribution is like furrows. There can provide a theoretical basis for preventing the conveyor belt impact failure. Meanwhile this paper studied the influence of wire, rubber single failure and all failure with wire and rubber on the whole belt under different failure criterion. Through the contrast of the three failure condition, found that any kind of material failure can aggravate another kind of material failure, and two kinds of material simultaneous failure is not each of theirs independent failure composition. Finally the paper studied the influence of conveyor belt inside different numbers of wire rope core loss on sag, energy, local stress and so on.
