Insoluble sulfur (IS) is an excellent rubber vulcanizer. This thesis gave a relatively comprehensive review for domestic and foreign research progress in preparation technologies of insoluble sulfur. Based on the low temperature polymerization method for IS preparation with normal sulfur, the influence of polymerization process conditions, addition stabilizer, the selection of treating oil and extractant on IS content in products, IS yield and IS stability were studied. The results show that, the proper polymerization conditions are as follow: the reaction temperature260℃, reaction time1h, deionized water at room temperature as a quenching medium, the solidifying temperature60℃, the solidifying time4h; Solidification of polymerization product, a rise of extraction temperature, treatment of product with oil and addition of stabilizer in the process of quenching and oil-treating are beneficial to improve the stability of the products. The proper stabilizer added into the quenching medium is A2(by0.6m%). The proper treating oil is naphthenic rubber process oil and stabilizer added in it is agent X(by2.0m%). Solvent L and SL can be new extractants to replace carbon disulfur. The proper extraction conditions are temperature70℃, extraction time20min, when the solvent to sulfur ratio16:1for L and14:1for SL respectively. As a result, the IS content and yield of extracted products can reach above90%, the stability of oil-treating products with more than48%and50%respectively reach that of the product form Flexsys Co and keeps a leading domestic level.
