Five planes other than the underside positioning face are achieved by five-sidemachining center by one clamping, the efficiency and parts’ positioning precisionare improved, which becomes the key research object in the NC industry.The mechanical structure of five-side machining center is complex, the headstrock parts with H/V function is the core of that machining center. The wholemachine’s performance is directly affected by the design of the head stock parts.By reference to foreign relevant technical information,the structure design,modeling and assemblying of the head stock is completed, and then key componentsand assembly can be analysed and optimized with Finite Element Analysis, andthe structure is improved. The specific content of the paper are as follows:1.The structure design of H/V head stock parts is finished, focusing on theselection of Spindle motor, supporting and locating design of a transmission shaftassembly and spindle assembly, selecting of bearing specifications, the structuredesign of automatic H/V convertion and accruacy positioning after H/V headfinishing convertion positioning.2.UG and Ansys are used to design the spindle box parts, the model ofautomatic H/V head is established and simplified, and then the model is introducedto Ansys finite element analysis software to simulate and analyze. According tocombine theory and simulation, there are some useful basis providing for designand research on H/V head stock parts.3.Ansys software is used to analyse and calculate the offset and deformation ofautomatic H/V head stock in processing, which causes the influence on themachining accuracy. According to the analysis results, when spindle motor worksunder overload conditions, stress value making a huge affect on machining accuracy.Therefore, the requirement of machining accuracy can be basically met by H/Vhead stock under the rating power.
