Along with deeply study of finite element theory, the rapid development of computersimulation technology as well as precision plastic forming technology advances, ourprecise cold extrusion technology has made considerable progress. In recent years, thelightweight requirements of the defense aerospace, automotive and other fields areincreasingly urgent. It facilitates the aluminum alloy development to a certain extent, especially in light alloy, such as high strength aluminum alloy. At present, the preciseplastic forming of high strength aluminum alloy has become the focus of domestic andforeign experts and scholars. However, the precise plastic forming of aluminum alloy, theproblems, such as complex process, high cost, high quality still exist. The high strength aluminum alloy and its precise extrusion forming process of theresearch status were briefly introduced. Finite element technology developed status athome and abroad were analyzed. Choosing a complex special shaped high-strengthaluminum alloy vane as representatives, described in detail in the forming process and thefinite element numerical simulation of high strength aluminum alloy. At the same time, theprocess tests have been carried out and tested the performance of high strength aluminumalloy. As the vane extrusion shape structure with a smooth curve, it should give fullconsideration to the material utilization, process feasibility, forming quality and otherissues in the development of cold extrusion process. The same time, due to the coldextrusion unit squeeze pressure, heat treatment and lubrication, the maximum forming loadand die life, must be the key consideration in order to formulate a reasonable formingprocess. In the paper, three-dimensional modeling software UG NX was used to analysisthe extrusion process and die design of high strength aluminum alloy. And using theDeform-3D, mature finite element numerical simulation software, simulated the coldextrusion process of a number of key technical issues. By numerical simulation, obtained areasonable the structure and size of blank shape, optimized the mold structure, andpredicted forming defects that may occur. Detailed analyzed the impact of differentDimensions of the rough for the extrusion forming process. On the rough focus theoptimization of process parameters in mechanism, and the impact of cold extrusion die life, the maximum forming load and die wear. Then, through the process test, verified the reasonable and scientific of the vane cold extrusion process and mold design, comparativeanalyzed the test results and simulation, and summarized the research process andexperiences in the course of the study. At last, using a series of testing, verified the stabilityof the overall performance of the vane after extrusion, and obtained the performanceresults. The vane precise cold extrusion process, the high strength aluminum alloy extrusiontechnology, finite element numerical simulation analysis and actual production wereclosely integrated through this research. It has shortened the product development cycleeffectively, achieved the purpose of improving material utilization, the comprehensiveperformance of parts, the die life and reducing costs. The research provides theoretical andpractical basis for topics of similar shaped aluminum alloy extruded parts production andthe associated extrusion die designed, can be used to guide production.
