Controlling the CO2emissions from coal is the key for the global greenhouse effect. The Oxy-fuel combustion is the prime technology to handle the emissions of CO?. However, it leads to the Power Plant efficiency dropped significantly and blocks the large-scale application. This paper puts forward the concept of Air enrichment that air mixes with oxygen, developed to the sub-Oxy-fuel state when burning in the furnace. To compare with Oxy-fuel combustion, the Air enrichment has lower oxygen consumption and a reasonable cost. Thermo-gravimetric technique was used to research the combustion characteristics of pulverized coal in Air enrichment conditions. The results showed:Increasing with oxygen concentrate, the combustion characteristic of pulverized coal curves moved to the lower temperature region, and the index of overall combustion performance S was improved. The combustion performance under Air enrichment was better than in Oxy-fuel environment because of the physical difference between N2and CO2. However, in the higher oxygen content, the advantage of the combustion in Air enrichment is not obviously. Meanwhile, the different features of coals in Air enrichment condition were discussed. The relevant dynamic parameters have been calculated and simulated. The factors of temperature, atmosphere conditions and coal types have been considered in the pollution test. The result shows the NO release from coal get the peak in the900℃in commonly. The higher temperature will aggravate reduction reaction and melting pore, and then decrease the conversion. Anthracite and lignite are more vulnerable than bituminous in different conditions. The conversion of SO2of samples increases with temperature rise. Anthracite had a better extent, followed by bituminous, and then is the lignite. The atmosphere can affect the conversion of SO2as well, and the effects wear off when temperature rise.
