With modern processing technology’s rapid development and wide application of high-speed CNC machining centers, the typical pocket more processes processing toolscombination selection to some extent will affect the machining efficiency and cost. However, whether domestic or foreign CAD/CAM software still required by the operator for selection the tool, machining method and process parameter, this will have on the operator’s experience and put forward higher requirements. Therefore, optimizationor preferably of process before the production, can effectively improve the production efficiency of NC machining.NC machining process optimization of cutting parameters optimization, tools Combination optimization, tool-path generation of tool path optimization and so on. Cuttingparameters optimization and generation of tool path optimization has been much research, and now the CAM software has a wealth of tool path mode choice. On the basisof this, this paper focuses on the2D type and3D type cavity in the tool path mode and tools combination optimization, explain and verify by examples.In this paper for MasterCAM software2D processing--pocket processing8kinds of tool path mode on the basis of comparative study, summed up the simple2D type pocket of tool path mode selection principle. For different2D pocket processing, should choose the different processing methods, in order to improve machining efficiency. In view of the different type and the used tool features, choose the right entry mode of tool, to improve the service life of the tool and ensure the machining precision of the workpiece. Of the existing tool sequence optimization method based on the study, through to the processing region description, determine a feasible tool set and tool screening calculation, reduces tools combination optimization range. Using CAM softwaretool machining time simulation and comparison, finally obtains the optimal tool combination. In the setting of machining allowance of the same premise, put forward the subregional processing manner for tools combination optimization method, effectively reduce the number of viable tools, improves optimization speed.Through the rough pocket machining of surface, plunge milling characteristics comparison, analysis of the3D pocket rough machining method selection principle, and finishing optimization method. Through slicing method extraction processing layer of the geometric constraint, using search layer combined calculation, tool structure and process constraint conditions, determine the3D cavity roughing feasible tool set. This paper proposes a tool combination optimization method, and use the CAM software simulation, on each tool combination processing time were compared, get optimal tool combination.The results show, using the tools combination effectiveness model can eliminate some redundant tools, narrowing the range of optimization tool, has certain positive meaning.
