Wood belongs to the renewable resources, has a high strength weight ratio, easy processing, beautiful texture features such as. plays an important role in the national economic construction and people’s daily life. Wood cutting surface roughness is an important indicator for evaluating the quality of the wood piece surface, will directly affect the appearance of the wood piece, gluing quality, decorative quality, and the consumption of plastic materials and coatings. Currently, wood cutting surface roughness is still stuck in analogy metal machining surface roughness level, whether the means of measurement or evaluation standards are more likely to draw metal machined surface roughness, this can not truly reflect the practical picture of the timber cutting surface morphology.Stylus method is commonly used methods of measuring surface roughness. In this paper, the wood cutting surface roughness are measured and analyzed with a profile meter. The main research work:(1) Measurement Fraxinus mandshurica. teak, bamboo surface roughness parameters Ra, Rz, RSm after slicing and grinding. Surface roughness characterizes surface micro geometry error, the profile angle can not be directly measured. According to Ra. RSm definition and roughness profile unit approximates the shape of a triangle, this paper creatively calculated roughness profile angle average value between130.37°~159.14°. to provide a theoretical basis for the conical stylus cone angle selection.(2) Analysis of the stylus tip radius and the stylus static pressure causing timber roughness parameter measurement error, calculation of the roughness measurement error value caused by the different tip radius. Reasoning:wood roughness measurement diamond stylus selecting90°conical needle, tip radius of10μm. static measuring force2mN. the roughness measurement error is smaller, ensuring measurement accuracy.(3) The fractal geometry to study the wood surface roughness. Measurement Fraxinus mandshurica. teak, bamboo surface roughness profile curve after slicing and grinding, structure function method to calculate the fractal dimension D. The results showed that:wood processing surface have fractal characteristics, with the increase of fractal dimension, contour irregularity degree enhancement. The fractal dimension does not change with measuring length, can reflect the essential characteristics of the surface profile.(4) Circular saw blade tooth top radial circular run-out influencing on cutting surface quality research and thin bamboo sanding surface roughness measurement and analysis.
