In this paper, we introduced the Wells-Dawson type polyoxotungstates asbuilding blocks into organic-inorganic hybrids. Wells-Dawson-type POMs with highcharge and big bulk are remarkably versatile inorganic building blocks in theconstruction of coordination polymers. POMs can’t only act as anionic templates tobuild high-dimensional metal-organic framework but also are attractive inorganicligands to coordinate with transition metal (transition metal coordinate polymers),leading to novel organic-inorganic hybrids. We discussed the synthetic for these newcompounds and the study of properties for these new compounds.We have obtained two hybrids based on Wells-Dawson-type POMs buildingblocks by hydrothermal technique, and structurally characterized by single X-raydiffraction, elemental analysis, TG, IR. The electrochemical property of these newcompounds has been studied.Co2(bpy)3(ox)(As2W18O62)·2(H2bpy)·2H2O (1) is constructed by incorporating ofthe nanosized [As2W18O62]6-as template in3D host framework. The compounddisplays high thermal stability up to450℃and good electrocatalytic activity towardthe reduction of nitrite.Cu2(bpy)2H4P2W18O62·6H2O (2) displays2D layer of infinite Cu(bpy)+chainsmodified [P2W18O62]6-. In2, there are two independent Cu(Ⅰ), which exhibittetra-coordinated and di-coordinate.[P2W18O62]6-act as inorganic ligands tocoordinate Cu(Ⅰ).
