The paper studied the optimum extraction condition of the yellowpigments from the flower of C. cornarium. by means of single factorexperiment and orthogonal experimental design. The results showed thatthe optimum extract of yellow pigment was obtained under the conditionsof30%alcohol concentration,60℃,3hours, pH5.0, and1:40the ratio. The pigment extracts were purified on different resin adsorbentcolumns. HZ841resin had the best effectiveness on purifying the extracts. The adsorbent volumn was27.55AV/g.90%enthanol was determined asthe optimum eluant, as its eluant rate was94.88%. The optimaladsorption conditions showed that pigment concentration1.042(absorbency),speed2ml/min,PH6.0The optimal desorptionconditions showed that dosage800ml.The C. cornarium pigments’ extraction under the best condition wasdissolved in distilled water to be tested. The results showed that thedyeing effects were quite good when the cotton fabrics were dyed60minat pH4,80℃and concentration of15mg/ml and the wool fabrics were dyed45min at pH6,70℃and concentration of15mg/ml. The aluminummordant showed the best effect. The pre-mordant dyeing method is betterthan the post-mordant dyeing method under the best dyeing condition of45min at pH8,80℃and concentration of15mg/ml for both cottonfabrics and wool fabrics. In summary, the study on C. cornarium pigments’ extraction anddyeing behavior provides the foundation of the further industrialproduction and application of the pigments.
