As one key technology among the main functional structures in the injection mold,cooling system plays a vital role in controlling mold temperature. Cooling system cantake away most of the heat which is released by molten plastic in the process ofsolidification, which can help the product be cooled uniformly and quickly,preventdifferential shrinkage and internal stress, shorten the molding cycle. Not only therationality of the cooling system design has an effect on the dimensional accuracy,quality and appearance of the product, but also has a direct relationship with theefficiency of production. Therefore it is very important to research on the advancedtechnology and methods about how to improve the mold cooling system design, whichhas an important significance in promoting the development of the injection mold CADtechnology.Under the background, with the demands of enterprises, this paper is committed tothe research about key technology in the cooling system in the injection mold as targetobject. The theories and knowledge of cooling system in the injection mold issummarized completely. The system is integrated with the common principle andstructure, including mold temperature, mold structure strength, non-interferencebetween the cooling channels and mold components and tooling cost. The system alsotakes the low efficiency of manual adjustment of cooling channels into account. Thesystem gives interactive design and automatical generation based on genetic algorithm,as well as automatical generation based on hightower algorithm. What’s more, thesystem developed common function in the cooling system including interferencedetection function, the cooling channels design performance evaluation function andadding the accessories.According to the practical demands of the cooling system, an intelligent coolingsystem is developed with NX/OPEN API and vs2010.The results of example test that this system has greatly improved quality andefficiency of the injection mold cooling system design.
