Activated Sludge Models (ASMs) proposed by the International Water Association (IWA)is a milestone in the development of mechanistic models for wastewater treatment. ActivatedSludge Model No.1(ASM1) is the cornerstone of the activated sludge models, and carryingout the research of ASM1has great significance for guiding the operation of the actualwastewater treatment plant. One of the key issues for the application of the ASM1is toidentify model parameters (kinetic parameters and stoichiometric coefficients). Whether thevalues of the parameter are accurate or not will affect the predictive ability of the modelgreatly.Parameter values of Activated Sludge Model No.1(ASM1) are different whenwastewater quality and sludge characteristics are varied. The respirometric method usingglucose, sodium acetate and methanol as the substrate respectively was employed formeasuring the values of the oxygen utilization rate (OUR) under the high, medium and zeroFood/Microorganisms ratios (F/M ratio). The_Heterotrophic yield (Y_H) in ASM1wasdetermined according to the test results of OUR under the medium F/M ratio; maximumspecific growth rate (μ_H) and decay coefficient (b_H)were obtained by the linear regression ofthe tested OUR under the high and zero F/M ratios; substrate half saturation constant (kS),oxygen half saturation constant (kh) and half saturation coefficient for hydrolysis (KX) weredetermined based on the results of Y_H, μ_H, b_Hand the curve fitting of the OUR profile underthe medium F/M ratio.The following conclusions were drawn:(1) Y_H, b_H, μ_H, kS, KXand khwhich were measured with glucose as the substrate are0.87,1.03,2.27,4.45,0.01,7.0respectively at20℃.(2) Y_H, b_H, μ_H, kS, KXand khwhich were measured with sodium acetate as the substrateare0.675,0.48,6.0,5.95,0.02,8.0respectively at20℃.(3) Y_H, b_H, μ_H, kS, KXand khwhich were measured with methanol as the substrate are0.53,0.48,5.75,0.9,0.03,3.0respectively at20℃.(4)Values of Y_H, b_H, μ_Hand kSobtained were differed from that of default values ofASM1which were0.67,0.62,6.0and20.0respectively, indicating the influence of differentsubstrates on the determination results of parameters of ASM1.(5)For the wastewater with low concentration of slowly biodegradable organics, KXandkhdidn’t have obvious influence on the biochemical reaction, and values of KXand khcould use the default values of ASM1. |
