Ferrofluid is a special colloidal system consisting of magnetic nanoparticlescoated with surfactant dispersed uniformly in a loading liquid, such as water, silicic oilet al. It exhibits both of magnetism and fluidity, and applied in the domain ofaerospace, military, environmental protection, medical treatment. In this paper, firstly, magnetite nanoparticles were synthesized by method ofultrasonication assisted chemical coprecipitation, the effects of powerful ultrasonicand reaction temperature on the morphologies and magnetic properties of particlesas-synthesized were investigated. It was founded, in the optical process, the magnetitenanoparticles with size of about10nm and saturated magnetization of55emu/g canbe obtained at65℃using a low power ultrasonication. Secondly, we coated theparticles in water sol using sodium oleate as surfactant, and studied the effect ofultrasonic in the process of coating, an optimal coating was obtained with the help ofultrasonication, which created a mass loss ratio of8.10%showed in TG analysis. Atlast, by dispersing magnetite nanoparticles coated with surfactant in DiisooctylSebacate, the ferrofluid with different mass fraction of magnetite were produced, andthe variation of density, viscosity and magnetism with the changes of the content ofnanoparticles in ferrofluid was investigated simply.
