With the influence of green gases on global climate change becoming more andmore serious, reduction of carbon dioxide emissions has turned into a worldwideproblem. Adsorption is considered one of the most appealing options for CO2capture,and the key of this technology is searching efficient adsorbent with a high selectivityand adsorbent capacity. The properties of mineral composition, crystal structure, adsorption performance and catalytic performance of palygorskite, as well as theapplication were reviewed, and the advances in research of greenhouse effect and theadsorption of carbon dioxide gas were introduced. Based on the above introduction, the following studies were done:Palygorskite was heat modified at different temperature and acid modified atdifferent concentraction under the laboratory conditions. The modified palygorskiteswere characterized by the methods of FT IR spectroscopy, SEM and XRD. Theadsorption performance of modified palygorskite was investigated through TGdetection. The effects of hydrochloric acid concentraction and the modifiedtemperature on the adsorption activity were investigated. Under the condition of thepressure at0.1MPa and temperature at25℃, palygorskites modified by2mol/Lhydrochloric acid shows the better adsorption activity. The adsorption activitydecreases with the increasing of calcining temperature.Imidazole modified palygorskite was prepared by binding imidazole with2mol/L hydrochloric acid modified palygorskites. The materials were characterized bythe methods of FT IR spectroscopy, SEM and XRD. The adsorption test was precededin vacuum drier, and the adsorption performance of absorbent was investigatedthrough TG detection. The effect of the reaction temperature on the adsorptionactivity was investigated. The experimental result shows that the adsorption of carbondioxide was better under the conditions of the pressure at0.1MPa and the reactiontemperature at80℃.Imidazole and2methylimidazole were mixed respectively with the2mol/Lhydrochloric acid modified palygorskites to prepare a organic and inorganicadsorption material. The materials were characterized by the methods of FT IRspectroscopy, SEM and XRD. And the adsorption performance was studied in the differential fixed bed reactor. Under the reaction conditions that pressure at0.1MPaand temperature at25°C, the adsorption capacityof the palygorskite loaded imidazolecan reach to45.47mg/g, and it is of65.01mg/g for palygorskite loaded2methylimidazole.
