The ocean oil and gas exploration have reached to deep and ultra deep water area, because of the recession of land and offshore oil and gas exploration and the increase of thepower consumption in the whole word. Meanwhile, Semi-Submersible has been turning intothe main equipment owing to its own unique features. On this occasion, the research ondynamic position which is suitable to Semi-Submersible is meritorious. This thesis focused on the numerical calculation and model test of a deep watersemi-submersible platform. When numerical analysis was executed, This thesis calculated theenvironmental load, and carried out the static and dynamic analysis for the dynamic positionsystem of the semi-submersible on the basis of the recommendation of API. Shield effect wasconsiderated when the environmental load was calculated. Mathematic modal was made, anda special program was created with M-language for the static and time-domain dynamicanalysis of the dynamic position system of the deep water semi-submersible. PID controlstrategy, Kalman filtering theory and optimal thrust allocation method were used in theanalysis. Simulation results indicated the dynamic position system of this platform was safeand efficient. When model test research was executed, the model test of dynamic positionperformance was carried out, for the comparison analysis of model test and numericalcalculation. Both simulation results and model test data indicated the dynamic position systemof the platform was competent to the positioning mission. All these work provide a support to practical engineering application of dynamic positionsystem of semi-submersible, and the research achievement on model test design, practicaloperation and data analysis make the reference to model test to be available.
