These years aerobic granular sludge technology has been paid moreand more attention in wastewater treatment area. Some commonconclusions have been accepted for the formation process andcharacteristics of granular sludge. Currently it’s very important todevelop application in real project. In order to complete the design, construction and operation of AGSpilot-scale plant, the main works were finished as follows:Aerobic granulation in small reactors of three different shapes at thesame environment. Though there is a little difference in granules quality,it implied that the shape of reactor is not the necessary conditionfor aerobic granulation. Aerobic granulation in the reactors of differentheight and diameter ratio, it implied aerobic granulation cannot onlyhappened in reactor with high ratio of height and diameter. Thebarb-type aerators as particle size selection pressure were used in the reactors to control the diameter of granules even if it’s a little lower theefficiency of oxygen’s transfer than the fine-bubble aerator.Base on experimental results, two sets of SBR pilot plant with2meters’ diameters and6meters’ height in a sewage treatment plant. TheCODCrorganic loading was2.53.1kg/(m3·d), aeration intensity of150m3/h, operating temperature is1722℃, and settling time was20minutes. Stable and high quality aerobic granular sludge was formed,with38.5mL/g SVI and0.51.5mm diameter. The average hydraulicretention time was6hours, The CODCrand ammonia nitrogen removalrate could arrive at89%and99%, respectively.
