Research On Application Of Modularity In Cabinet Design

Accelerate increasingly in life rhythm today, consumer is not satisfied with a single material comforts, but highly seek for personality. When meeting the basic requirements, furniture should gradually move towards to personality and diversification. However, the shape of modern furniture is too limited and if one part is broken, the whole is waste. Modular furniture can solve this problem, it can split modular components flexibly, so the modeling style is more diverse. This paper describes the background of furniture modular, then describes the shortage of cabinets and delves into the design methods of cabinet furniture.This article analyses the cabinets furniture from these aspects:making functional analysis of cabinets furniture, plan modules based on the analysis; making analysis of the design and dimensions of cabinet modular, put the geometric shape factor, the aesthetic form of law, rules of mathematical proportion, and ergonomic design methods in design of the module in the cabinet furniture; making analysis of the structure of the cabinet furniture, so the module structure interface can be spilt many times, it’s good for replacement and maintenance of the modules; Applying TRIZ innovation theory to the design of module Interface, it’s to solve the problem in design process; making analysis of Computer Aided Technologies, applying it to designing the cabinet furniture, founding module library and manage it and show the project.This study is expected to apply the methods of modular design to the design of cabinet furniture, the furniture panels can be split and randomly assembled, so that the modeling of cabinet furniture will be more diverse and it’s helpful to maintainment and updating of the furniture products, improving the competitiveness of the product in the furniture industry.
