Since the last century, the design and synthesis of novel lanthanide complexes can tightly catch the chemist’s eye, due to their particular electronic, spectroscopic and magnetic properties associated with the special4ff electronic structure of lanthanide ions,as well as the practical applications in many fields, such as fluorescent probes for analysis, contrast agents for medical resonance imaging(MRT), luminescent stains for protein and amino acids labeling, sensitive homogeneous immunoassays, and catalysts for the selective cleavage of RNA and DNA. However, the rational design and synthesis of target lanthanide compounds with well-defined framework and predetermined properties is still a great synthetic challenge because the lanthanide ions display high coordination numbers with little stereochemical preferences. In this paper, we have synthesized a series of chiral2-D framework coordination polymers with a wavelike net, which are the first examples by assembling the multifunctional dihydroxyfumaric acid with lanthanide ions in hydrothermal condition. During this process, dihydroxyfumaric acid undergone decomposition and rearrangement, and transformed to2,2-dihydroxymalonate ion.The complexes or partial complexes have been characterized by elemental analysis, X-Ray diffraction, IR, fluorescence, thermal analysis and XRD et al. The luminescence behavior of compounds3and4have been investigated, and they exhibit strong red and green fluorescence in the visible region respectively.
