Xinjiang is one of the provinces that have the more lack of water resources inChina, Water scarcity seriously affect the regional ecological security and sustainabledevelopment, Turpan-Hami Basin as an extremely important coal, petroleum storageareas in Xinjiang, the lack of water resources seriously restricting the rapidsocio-economic development in the area. Therefore, for the census of the region’swater resources is very important. Remote sensing technology has the advantages ofgood timeliness, abundant information that can not compared with the traditionalmeans in groundwater investigation, and also has some practical value.This paper taking Turpan-Hami Basin as an example, its works mainly aboutsynthesize analysis the remote sensing characteristic, initially established theinterpretation mark of arid areas geological, hydro-geological, ecological environment,then conducted a systematic interpretation by adopt some technology means, such asuse two o’clock TM remote sensing image as the primary data sources, and closelycombined the remote sensing interpretation with the field verification. The mainresults achieved of the paper in the following:(1) Targeted enhancement processing of remote sensing image, such as edgeenhancement, contrast enhancement, color enhancement and so on. According to theneeds of remote sensing interpretation, TM images resolution greatly improve byenhanced processing. Then according to the color, texture and other interpretationsigns, the Turpan-Hami Basin desertification classification, the classification accuracyis overall reach84.16%.(2)After comprehensive analysis of remote sensing image characteristics andrepeated the field-proven, the interpretation marks of study area geological,hydro-geological, ecological environment are established, it which include size, color,texture, shadow, shape, etc. and then interpreted its various types.(3) The initial establishment of the arid areas of geological, hydro-geological, ecological environment interpretation signs, and then interpreted its various types.After field validation, the interpretation average accuracy will reach80.67%.This study has important practical significance of water resources prospectingand exploration in the Turpan-Hami Basin.
