Virtual reality technology has been extensively utilized in numerous areas. To meet thecontinually growing demands for more realistic visual effects, special effects technology hasattracted considerable interests. Recent years, with the rapid development of programmablegraphics hardware GPU, it was widely used to simulate with high quality. Compared withtraditional CPU, it has more excellent real-time effect and sense of reality. This paper focused on two types of special effects in the process of virtual simulation ofdrilling. Based on the principle of that strata rock would be fractured under the force of drill,a pre-fracturing physics method was pointed out to simulate the rigid body fracturing effectby means of the powerful floating point computation ability. The final simulation of rigidbody fracturing effect was achieved via the construct of geometric and fracturing model.Meanwhile, the disadvantages of traditional simulation method were demonstrated. We tookthe blowout which may be involved in the virtual simulation of drilling as fluid effect, expounding the theoretical basis of fluid simulation based on the SPH method, in regard torender particles, we proposed a surface rendering method in the screen space based on depthimage, and explained detailed design proposal, finally, showed the fluid simulation effect ofthe blowout. At the same time, extracting related parameters in the simulation, which wereboth shown by way of interactive interface, through parameterized control, we could observedifferent effects.Bonding the scene of oilfield virtual simulation, we applied strong floating pointcomputing power and flexible programmable feature of GPU, finally, realized the rigid bodyfracturing and fluid effects which can be put into use of the oilfield drilling virtual simulation.
