| Maleic anhydride-styrene copolymer is a research hotspotconcerning about copolymers, which can be used for such industriesas plastic, leather, papermaking crude oil and so on. Due to thebenzene ring which can form strong π-π bond with Organic pigmentmolecules and Solvent chains After hydrolysis which provide Sterichindrance, the maleic anhydride-styrene Dispersant can be used forOrganic pigment dispersion in water. But, the Organic pigment dispersionwith unmodified maleic anhydride-styrene copolymer has biggerdiameter which is unstable and likely to flocculate. What is more, theunmodified are not suitable for diversity of dispersed system. Thesedefects seriously impede the application of SMA. To overcome these, weneed to modify SMA.In this work, we have synthesized a series of SMA-g-Dopamine.Organic pigments such as phthalocyanine blue15:3with thesedispersants could be dispersed directly in water to form polymernanoparticles, These SMA-g-Dopamine sodium salt can not only improve the cohesion, but also control the Hydrophile-Lipophile Balance (HLB).Additionally, it can balance between electrostatic repulsion and stereohindrance. In a world it improves the dispersing properties of organicpigment particles.First of all, we have selected several makes of SMAs and modifiedthem, and then made them in to sodium salts. In this work, two kinds ofgrafting monomers are chosen to modify SMA. One is dopamine HCL,another is P2O5. The modified SMA sodium salts are SMA-g-Dopaminesodium salt and SMA-g-DEA-Pt sodium salt, which are Characterized byIR and1H-NMR.Secondly, we used two kinds of maleic anhydride-styrenedispersants to disperse varieties of pigments. What is more, we examinedthe influence of modified dispersant–pigment interactions on particlesize maximum absorbent wave-length and stability of pigment solutionwith the unmodified.In conclusion, due to the excellent properties of SMA-g-Dopaminesodium salt it was more suitable for preparation of water-solublenanoscale pigment blue15:3dispersion than unmodified SMA. Whengrafting ratio of dopamine is16.2%and the ratio of SMA-g-Dopaminesodium salt/pigment blue15:3is20%with no organic solvent, the pigment solution that PH is about7has smaller particle size(190nm) andmaximum absorbent wave-length but higher centrifugal stability(57.9%)and storage stability(82.1%). |
