The new type of PVC/FRP/PE composite pipe is a special pipelineapplied to mine gas drainage engineering, with the advantages of light weight, stiffness, low cost, wide prospect of application. This subject mainly studiedabout the forming process, the external pressure carrying capacity of thecomposite tube. The multi-layer composite pipe was produced, and the finiteelement technology and test methods were used to study the carrying capacityof composite tube in the external pressure. It’s significant to the design andpractical application of the composite tube.First of all, the forming process of the composite pipe was studied. Thenew composite pipe was produced using the extrusion process and windingprocess. Second,a simplified composite tube model which was based on anumber of assumptions was established and was used in the buckling analysisof composite tubes under external pressure using the ANSYS soft. Then, thebuckling mode shape and the critical buckling pressure was got.At the sametime, the relationship between critical buckling pressure and pipe length, theenhancement layer thickness was established.Take the composite tube at 400mm diameter for example, the critical buckling pressure was calculatedusing the non-linear method, the value is0.085MPa, lower0.006MPa than theeigenvalue method. And the maximum radial deformation of the compositepipe at the work load-0.05MPa is about2.12mm. Finally, the critical bucklingpressure and the maximum radial deformation of the composite tube were bothgot by experiment. The calculation results of eigenvalue method andnon-linear method in some extent were consistent with the experimentalvalues. Non-linear method result was more consistent with the experimentalresults, because of the impact of initial defects of the composite tube.
