Study On Coupling Relationship Between Urbanization And Eco-environment In Pingding

Urbanization is a measurement for the level of human civilization as well as ecological environment is the basis of urban development. In addition, Chinese reform and opening policy derived a rapid economic development and acceleration of the urbanization. However, facing the fragile environment and shrinking resources, the extensive type of development in city may bring more pressure and cause a range of prominent damage.This assignment will consider Pingding as an example. Firstly, it will analyze the recent environment and urbanization situation in Pingding during "the Eleventh Five-year Plan" period. Moreover, this essay will select thirteen basic indicators about four dimensions in urbanization which includes population, economic, space and society. In addition, the other twelve basic indicators on three dimensions about eco-environment are selected as the following:eco-environment level, eco-environment pressure level, and eco-environment protection. In the basis of these indicators, coordination development evaluation model has been established. This model will provide a comprehensive evaluation on the level of eco-environment and urbanization in Pingding. Plus, a range of advices for its further development and how to coordinate the relationship between urbanization and the eco-environment will be given.To sum up, the level of the coupling in urbanization and the eco-environment were below0.5during2003to2011. It illustrated that the development of urbanization and the ecological environment has entered to the antagonist period. Also, the urbanization development has stepped into the era of rapid development. Nonetheless, the impacts of urbanization development cannot be totally eliminated by development of ecological environment. In2003to2005, due to the acceleration of urbanization, hardly can the ecological environment afford its negative effects. What’s more, a decrease in coupling level has been continuing. More concretely, the score of coupling level experienced a growth in2006; then, it peaked at0.4989in 2007which is the highest in these years. It showed that the government has paid more attention to the environment problem, and gradually adopted a series of solutions on these issues. Until2008, the coupling showed a down trend, it is mainly caused by the slow urbanization level in background of financial crisis. Then, the following economic recovery triggered another increase in the degree of coupling.Finally, there are three proposals for Pingding’s further environmental construction which includes strengthening environmental protection, building the resource-efficient society, and improving the scientific innovation.
