This thesis is composed of two parts:PartⅠ: Oxidative esterification of aldehydes catalyzed by N-heterocycliccarbeneOxidative esterification reactions of nitrobenzaldehyde and different alcoholstook place efficiently catalyzed by N-heterocyclic carbine in the air, without anyoxidant. And we optimize the reaction conditions and study the scope of substrates.Part Ⅱ: A copper acetate complex of symmetric diamine-catalyzed HenryreactionA new copper acetate complex derived from C2-symmetric diamine, which can beeasily prepared from L-proline, was developed and used as an efficient catalyst inHenry reaction between various aromatic aldehydes and nitromethane. All aldehydeswere reacted efficiently with nitromethane and corresponding β-nitroalcohols wereobtained in good yields, the reaction conditions were optimized and the substratescope was also investigated. Thereby, a practical Henry reaction methodology wasestablished under catalytic conditions with many advantages, including easyavailability of ligand, mild reaction conditions and simple workup procedures.
