High-speed cutting (HSC) is a development trend in the field of cutting technology. In recent years, there are a lot of research works about High-speed machining mechanism and application at home and abroad. Because HSC process is more complex than traditional machining, the theory for HSC is not mature in present. It needs further research in High-speed machining mechanism. This paper has researched Numerical simulation method which was used in HSC and simulated the cutting process for different materials. Finally, Revealed the High-speed machining mechanism by analyzed the simulation results.Finite Element Method (FEM) is a widely applied Numerical simulation, which can process complex engineering problems. This paper is based on the Stress-strain relationship of metal plastic deformation、Yield criterion for metallic materials and Yield strength theory to establish the metal cutting FEM model by Rigid-plastic FEM.Having built simplified oblique cutting geometry model in UG/CAD model according to the geometrical relationship of universal turning tool parameters. Then I established simulation material model for material of45steel and High-temperature alloy Inconel718, fixed on material constitutive equation、hermal conductivity and contact friction coefficient and enacted boundary condition of simulation process.This paper simulated some cutting tests, which have been done by previous researchers at home and abroad. The error rate of simulation and test results is7.2%-12.6%. while increment error rate is1.8%-4.2%.This conclusion shows that the frondose value of simulation results has a certain error to the test, but movement trend is coincident. It proves that the simulation result is exact. Then, make the cutting force and cutting temperature as research parameter to do a series simulation by single-factor experiment. As follows:1. Under the conditions of other cutting tool parameters constant, gradually change the size of cutting inclination edge to do high-speed cutting simulation, Get the sample date points of cutting force and cutting temperature in every simulation and give mathematical treatment. Plot each influence relation curve by cartography. Obtain the change rule of cutting power and cutting temperature as the cutting edge inclination angle variety.2. Simulate with the cutting speed as a variable, and also obtain the relation curves of the cutting force and the cutting temperature along with the cutting speed.3. Change the cutting depth and the cutting width separately, and then simulate and study the cutting process.After lots of simulations above, this issue has carried out a comprehensive analysis and reached some basic theory about high-speed cutting.
