One of the difficulties of nickel-molybdenum ore flotation is that it is difficult to further reduce the molybdenum grade of the tailings when the molybdenum grade of the tailings down to a certain level. To this end, Pure mineral experiment, practical ore test, flotation solution chemisty calculation, FTIR spectra, Adsorption capacity test Solid-liquid interfacial free energy change calculation were used to explore the interface reaction between collector CPC and molybdite, oleic acid and powellite and investigate the effects of depressors on the flotation of molybdite and powellite in this paper. Strive to provide some theoretical guidance for the lower grade of Mo in the Ni-Mo ore flotation tailings.Pure mineral experiment results showed:(1)the collector CPC had a certain collection ability on molybdite, fluorapatite and pyrite.Overall, CPC had the weakest collection ability on pyrite. Adsorption capacity test show that adsorption of CPC on the surface of molybdite and fluorapatite particles is more than that on the surface of pyrite particles. FTIR spectra test showed that the adsorption of CPC on the surface of three minerals is physical adsorption.(2) The collector Oleic acid had good collecting effect on powellite and fluorapatite, but it had weak collecting ability on pyrite which is sulphide ore. Flotation solution chemisty calculation showed that the collector Oleic acid exist chiefly as the form of molecular in low alkaline conditions, so it disperse badly and its collecting ability is poor.We find that N-containing Hexahydroxy heterocyclic adsorb on the surface of the crystal when CPC monomer adsorb on the surface of three minerals by means of molecular simulation of Minerals and Reagents, The adsorption energy of the CPC on the surface of molybdite is less than that of apatite and pyrite surface,which indicate that CPC adsorb preferentially on the surface of molybdite when the dosage of CPC is lower. The adsorption energy of the oleic acid on the surface of powellite is less than that of apatite and pyrite surface, which indicate that oleic acid adsorb preferentially on the surface of molybdite when the dosage of oleic acid is lower.Trial test results of The practical ore show:Mo-tailings flotation could reduce the Mo grade of the tailings by using CPC collecting molybdite. By adopting the closed circuit flotation flowsheet of single-stage roughing, two-stage cleaning and three-stage scavenging, the final tailings contain0.71%of Mo with Mo recovery of7.68%. using oleic collects modified molybdite(powellite), adopting the open circuit flotation flowsheet of two-stage roughing, two-stage cleaning and one-stage scavenging, the final tailings contain0.62%of Mo with Mo recovery of9.46%.
