Forging industry has a long history more than thousand years. It is essential in machinery manufacture industry. Recently with the rapid development of economy, based on the following including the further study of computer technique&the metal plastic theory, emerging of new material and technical process, and the demand of large equipment to national economy and defense development as well as the larger parts, the tonnage and technical level of forging press have been developed dramatically. As per the requirement of the medium forging enterprises, the two-way cartridge valve electro-hydraulic control technology has been explored and designed, which provides vital theoretical reference with important application.Firstly, the research status of the rapid forging hydraulic press in and out of China has been introduced in the text. The status and trend of the two-way cartridge valve have been put forward. The features of high oil direct capacity via two-way valve, quick response, low noise, and high intensive degree have been considered. The hydraulic basic loop circuit has been equipped by calculating the hydraulic pressure and selecting the rational model as per the requested process demands and function from customer. The two-way valve electro-hydraulic control technique has been applied to develop the electro-hydraulic control system of12.5MN rapid forging hydraulic press. The application of high response pressure-release buffering loop in the system has reduced the impact from direction-changing and unloading action. Thus the stability, reliability, and the control accuracy of the forging press have been improved greatly.Secondly, the electric control system which adopts S7-300processor as the center has been designed and explored. The industrial computer has been used as man-machine interface.●As per PROFIBUS-DP bus web system, the process parameters and requirement, the following motions including normal&rapid forging of oil press, forward walk of manipulator car, and top-bottom&up-down&rotation of jaw have been positioned and controlled accurately. The running time of each action has been distributed rationally. The process cycle time has been satisfied, while the process has been monitored and controlled automatically.Finally, the software of the control system has been developed and programmed, which realizes the rapid directional control of the oil cylinder for forging press. With fine commissioning, when the forging stroke is25mm, the cycle times can reach85times/minutes and the press-down position accuracy can reach±1mm, which satisfies the customer completely. The quality and productivity of the product have been improved. The energy consumption and cost have been reduced, which has gained economical and social benefit.
