The rubber conveyor belts often need to be applied in harsh conditions, and its demand on heat resistance become more and more stern. In this paper, focusing on a high-temperature resistance conveyor belt with steel cords, therecipe and property of coating and core rubber layers was studied. Thecoating and core layers with many outstanding performances in heatresistance, mechanical properties and adhesive property were made. For one thing, the recipe design key points of coating rubber layer wereobtained by systematically investigating rubber matrix and vulcanizing, reinforcing, plasticizing as well as protection systems. Based on those points, the impacts of vulcanizing, reinforcing, and plasticizing systems of ethylenepropylene rubber (EPDM) on mechanical and heat-resistant properties ofcoating layer were studied, and optimal recipe of coating rubber was decided. The results indicated that, since the formation of carbon-carbon bonds andcarbon-sulfur bonds in cross-linking process, EPDM rubber, using organicperoxide and sulfur as vulcanizing system, has a better heat-resistant propertythan the coating rubber, using sulfur-donors curing system, in the process ofwhich single and double sulfur bonds are formed. Additionally, as carbon-carbon bonds and carbon-sulfur bonds have different energy, destroying theweak bonds can partially offset the outside energy. In this way, excellentmechanical properties were obtained. For another, in order to obtain core rubber layer with high mechanicaland adhesive properties, adhesive recipes for rubbers and metals by curingprocess were studied. Taking nature rubber (NR) and bronze, styrenebutadiene rubber (SBR) and bronze, EPDM/SBR and galvanized steal cordsas materials, the impacts of curing and adhesive system on mechanical andadhesive properties were respectively discussed. The main results weresummarized as follows:(1) The HRH adhesion system combining Cobalt Boroacylate can make vulcanization and adhesion happen at the same time, and form a resin network with high strength between rubber and bronze. Inthis way, the excellent adhesion performances for rubber and bronze wereobtained.(2) EPDM/SBR blend can overcome shortcomings of the poorself-adhesive and mutual-adhesive properties of EPDM, and possesses theexcellent adhesive property between blend and galvanized steel cords so as toefficiently utilize both high strength of the metal and high elasticity of therubber, when EPDM/SBR mass ratio is60/40, the curing institutions are DCPand sulfur, the adhesive system is made up of RC as well as white carbonblack and Cobalt Boroacylate.
