Recently, the subjects of3d metal compounds/coordination ploymers have attracted significant research interests in the functional molecular materials. The design and synthesis of multinuclear transition metal complexes/coordination ploymers is one of the most important aspects in the above research field. In order to investigate the magnetic-structural correlations,36new transition metal complexes/coordination ploymers have been synthesized and characterized by element analysis, IR, XPS and variable-temperature magnetic susceptibility. These novel systems include:1A series of new multinuclear clusters, such as [Mn3â…¢]-cluster (3),[Mn3â…¢Mnâ…¡Na]-clusters (1,2),[Mn6â…¢Mn2â…¡Na]-cluster (4) and based on the [Mnâ…¢3Mnâ…¡Na]-clusters-bridged2D/3D coordination ploymers (5,6) have been synthesized and characterized. The magnetic susceptibility (2-300K) indicates an antiferromagnetic interaction in these complexes.2A series of cubane-like [Cu4â…¡Na2]-clusters (7,8),[Zn4â…¡]-cluster (13); square planar [Cu4â…¡]-cluster (10),[Mn4â…¡]-cluster (11),[Zn4â…¡]-cluster (16); face-to-face [Fe4â…¡/â…¢]-cluster (12),[Zn4â…¡]-cluster (15) and the [Cu4â…¡Na2]-clusters-bridged1D complex (9), a novel left-handed homochiral Znâ…¡ coordination polymer were obtained. 3Some Mnâ…¢(d4) coordination compounds have been obtained in situ control, the magnetic susceptibility (2-300K) indicates an weak antiferromagnetic interaction in these complexes. Two rare one-dimensional helical copper(â…¡) coordination polymers:a left-handed homochiral [Cuâ…¡(R-HL3)(dca)]n (23) and a right-handed homochiral [Cuâ…¡(S-HL3)(dca)]n (24) have been self-assembled. The opposite homochiral nature of23and24are confirmed by the results of CD spectra measurements.4Some novel complexes with [Cuâ… Cu3â…¡]-cluster (31),[Cuâ… Cu2â…¡]-cluster (32),[Mn8â…¡]-cluster (34),[Fe8â…¡/â…¢]-cluster (36) and based on the [Mn8â…¡]-cluster-bridged1D porous coordination ploymer have been synthesized by hydrothermal method and characterized structurally.
