To realize the low cost and high performance of the injection molding machine, and shorten the design cycle, the Switched Reluctance Motor (SRM) is applied to the clamping mechanism for injection molding machine. And then the optimization and the dynamic simulation to clamping mechanism are made. Finally, the finite element analysis of the front platen is made and the topology optimization to the front platen is carried on. These work offer a new thinking and reference for research on clamping mechanism of injection molding machine.The shortcomings of the existing clamping mechanism for plastic injection molding machine is studied. And the feasible analysis of the SRM applied to clamping mechanism is carried on. The idea which the SRM is applied to the clamping mechanism is put forward, and the overall structural scheme is raised. Based on above, the kinematic and theoretical analysis of the clamping mechanism is made.Amplification on clamping force and the stroke ratio are regarded as the objective function. And the structural size optimization to clamping mechanism is made by MATLAB optimization toolbox. Through the optimizational results of the different schemes, the optimal structural size is ascertained.The virtual prototype of the clamping mechanism is established by PRO/E, and the kinematic and dynamic simulation to the clamping mechanism is carried on by ADAMS. The simulation data and curve of the moving platen displacement, the moving platen speed, the moving platen acceleration, clamping force, the thrust of the cross head, the force magnification and so on are obtained. The virtual prototype of clamping mechanism has good motion and mechanical performance is verified.The finite element analysis of the front platen is carried on by ANSYS, and based on the above, the topological optimization to the front platen is made. Based on the results of the topological optimization, three kinds of structural improvement program are put forward. Through the comparative analysis of three schemes of maximum deformation, maximum stress, maximum volume, the optimal structural scheme is ascertained.
