Oil, as an important strategic energy, plays a very important role in acountry’s social stability and economic development. Recent years, most of theoil field development entering a high water cut, crude oil is produced on theform of emulsions with a variety of mining technology. The demulsificationtechnology of the joint field of pulsed electric field and centrifugal fieldcombines the respective advantages, not only having shorter energy, less time, higher efficiency than traditional electric demulsification maintaining the samedemulsification dehydration efficiency. The demulsification mechanismstudied will provide theoretical guidance and experimental basis for improvingthe demulsification efficiency of the oil-water emulsion. The droplet movement and coalescence mechanism in an electric fieldand pulsed electric field, is studied on the basis of colloid and interfacechemistry, electrochemistry, and fluid mechanics. The basic properties of theoil-water emulsions: the appearance of nature, viscosity, electrical properties, stability is analysed in this paper. The interfacial tension and additional pressure of the oil-water emulsion, the behavior of the dispersed droplets in the electric field studied, whichobtains the specific formula of the critical electric field strength, two phases ofoil-water beginning to separate, this paper. At the same time, the relationshipbetween the interface potential of dispersed droplets in the oil-water emulsionand interface charge density, dispersed droplets interfacial potential formulaare researched. The expression of the electric double layer potential of thedispersed droplets of oil-water emulsion, induced polarization potential, vander Waals potential energy in the conditions of the applied electric field areobtained. This paper argues that only the applied electric field energy isgreater than the above-mentioned three potential energy, the dispersed phasedroplets will overcome the barrier to prevent droplet aggregation andcoalescence, to achieve better demulsification. The dynamic behavior of the oil-water emulsion in a pulsed electric fieldconditions, including kinetic function, the perturbation potential function, fluidfunction specific changes in the law are studied, which are key factors todipole coalescence and the oscillation coalescence, as the dispersed phasedroplets of oil-water emulsion in a pulsed electric field conditions, mainly in aform of dipole coalescence and oscillation coalescence. The variation of theelectric potential, electric field strength and the electric force are analyzed, which are due to the dipole moment changes in the pulsed electric fieldconditions. The result of this paper will provide theoretical guidance and experimental basis to improve the efficiency of the oil-water emulsiondemulsification. It has an important role in the guidance for further study onthemechanism of demulsification of oil-water emulsion, to optimize theelectrical parameters.
