The Affects Of Zhou Shan’s Channel Improvement To The Ocean Environment

Zhou Shan, located in the middle of the coastline, northeastern part of ZhejiangProvince, is not only a key position for both Hangzhou Bay and Yangzi River Delta Regionbut also a door linking Yangtze River valley to the outside, and it has remarkablegeographical superiority. In recent years, the port shipping in Yangtze River Delta andZhejiang has developed fast, and Shanghai International Shipping Center and Ningbo–Zhou Shan harbor construction has become integrated. These great changes have led ZhouShan in to a busier style, and the harbor and ship channels are under higher pressure. So, inorder to relieve the stress, Zhou Shan took great measures to expand and deepen thewaterways, which caused more trouble to the questioning ocean environment. so it is verynecessary to study the affect of channel improvement project.In this essay, I study the effects caused by channel improvement to the marineenvironment from some typical project in channel improvement; In the process of channelimprovement, the blasting operation, dredging construction, sediment filling, impact wave,and so on, will influence the ocean environment.At the same time, the hazardous chemicals in the deposit could cause the secondarypollution and it will also affect ecological environment.This thesis estimates the suspended solids’ spreading distance within10mg/L and thespell of its peak concentration by the means of ship-based observation and spot sourcesprediction model. According to the comparative studying of the every estimated elementsbefore and after construction, I have found out the constructional affects to the Marinewater quality environment, sediments environment, biological environment and fisheryresources.I also analyzed the affects of blasting construction towards the fishery resources andbenthos according to the survey and the estimate formula in Assessment TechnicalProcedures for Construction Project on Marine Biological Resources.According to all the figures analyzed above, I find out the main pollution elements,affects to the channel improvement, and the corresponding preventive means and I wish Ican do some help to the Zhou Shan’s shipping industry.
