The FuXi river is a tributary of the Tuo River Basin, which is the main river of surface water system in ZiGong City. The control of water quality directly affects the sustainable development of the social production of ZiGong City and the water quality down Tuojiang River in the Sichuan Province. With the development of socio-economics, a series of environmental problems occurred in Fuxi river and had negative impact on its function. Thus, innovative thoughts and methods to deal with water pollution are required to guarantee the sustainable utilization of the water resources in river basins with reality and pressing significance.After analyzing and summarizing the most researches at home and abroad, a preliminary study on the water pollution control of FuXi river in ZiGong city has been performed in this paper on the basis of multidisciplinary theories and techniques. Firstly, according to the Environmental monitoring data and sources of pollution findings, the paper evaluates current situation of environmental quality of the FuXi river. Then, each pollutant reduction was calculated with water environment capacity and planning length of forecast load of pollution. Finally, in order to achieve the unity of economic, environmental and social profit, the integrated measures for the prevention of watershed pollution are discussed from the points of reasonable utilization of water resource, protection of water environment, improvement of water quality and upgrading of the self-cleaning watershed capability.From final analysis, it shows that the current water capacity of FuXi river has been seriously exceeded without environment capacity. The domestic sewage is the main of reason for the deterioration of water quality in the river. In this paper, scientific, economically feasible and advanced measure is developed from the perspectives of industrial pollutant sources, domestic sewage, livestock pollution control, rural non-point source pollution control, ecological environment construction and ecological water compensation aiming to ensure the improvement of the water quality of FuXi river.
