The fibers’ splicing system is used to splice yarns which twist without knots, and deservedmore and more market demand. In CHINA, the air splicers almostly import from abroad, evensome of which made in our country only imitate foreign equipment but its core technology. Thecore technology of air splicer is a combination of closed gas path and mechanical parts, whichcosts1-2s, and is difficult for researching.In order to research the splicing process of air splicer, the article designs fibers’ splicing andtest platform, visual experiment and SEM experiment, analysis untwisted process and twistedprocess through the understanding of gas path and mechanical parts, then deeply dissect theprinciple of splicing. According to the actual disadvantageous factors, the article studies thevorticity insides the splice’s chamber by increasing inlet pressure, changing distance between twoaccelerating channel and adding a groove in the core, then judges the effect of splicing fiber bythese facts.The results show that:(1) The airflow in the rotating region forms vortex area but thecenter’s velocity of which is zero, therefore, it is necessary to avoid fiber staying at center ofvortex area in splicing process. The vorticity and pressure gradient which are restricted by inletpressure are two of the important facts which decides the effect of splicing fibers. So When theinlet pressure keep low, the strength of fiber is dominated by vortices of flow, otherwise,pressure gradients push fibers to wall quickly so fibers can not intermingle with each othercompletely.(2) The groove can add an export for airflow’s discharge which is helpful to keepinternal pressure steady, make axial speed of flow promote fiber’s stress distribution, thenenhance fiber’s strength.(3) The inlet pressure decides the vorticity besides the acceleratingchannel.When M equals4, it remains in balance by vorticity in the core and pressure gradient inthe extension. So the effect of splicing fiber is the best.The innovation of this article is that: Designs fibers’ splicing and test platform to researchthe effect of splicing fibers. Developments with a visual experimental system and uses high-speed camera, CNC engraving machine and fire polishing machine to observed and analyse theclosed gas path and mechanical parts. Numerically simulates (CFD) the flow insides splicer’schamber, and studies vorticity under different condition of increasing inlet pressure, changing distance between two accelerating channel and adding a groove in the core, then judges theeffect of splicing fiber by these facts. Quantitively analysis the fibers’ property through the SEMexperiment which gets some relevant L and d value. All of these provide some theoretica l basisand technical support for fiber splicing technology.
