The layered compounds possess the special functions, especially in the fields ofmaterials science and technology; their functions are irreplaceable with othermaterials. These materials can be used in many fields such as heterogeneous catalysts,environmental protection, high-performance engineering materials, hydrogen storagematerials, superconductors, nonlinear optical materials, solid-state electronics,fire-retardant materials as well as specific adsorbent materials and so on.Titanates as the layered compounds have the advantage of their excellentchemical, physical, optical and dyeing properties that have been extensively studiedrecently. K0.81Li0.27Ti1.73O4 as one of layered compounds has many importantproperties such as intercalation reaction, photocatalysis, ion exchange and so on. Inthis thesis, K0.81Li0.27Ti1.73O4 used as the precursor of the reaction, the differentmisfit-layered transition metal titanate oxide compounds have been synthesized andthe conditions of the synthesis were also investigated. The compositions, structures,physical and chemical properties of the compounds have been characterized by XRD,TG-DTA, SEM, TEM, SAED,EDS and IR.The layered cobalt titanates (CoTiO) were synthesized by hydrothermalsynthesis. The crystal structure of the compounds attributed to orthorhombic, and theyhave a set of sublattice with the lattice parameters: a = 2.2506 , b = 2.8132 , c =11.0876 ,α=β=γ= 90°.The chemical formula of CoTiO is Co1.09(Ti1.73O4) (OH)1.12.2H2O. CoTiO lostwater when the temperature between 80 and 200℃, then transformed into the mixtureof CoTiO3and Rutile. The layered iron titanate (FeTiO) has been synthesized by using thehydrothermal synthesis. The orthorhombic sublattice of the compound can not betested due to the photophobism, so, it unable to calculate. Therefore, the crystal latticecan not be descried obviously.The chemical formula of FeTiO is Fe0.23(Ti1.73O4) (C3H10N)0.39 0.30H2O.FeTiO lost water when the temperature between 20 and 450℃, then transformed intothe mixture of Fe2O3and Rutile.The layered zinc titanate (ZnTiO) has been synthesized by using thehydrothermal synthesis. The crystal structure of the compounds attributed toorthorhombic, and they have a set of sublattice with the lattice parameters: a = 1.6241, b = 2.5006 , c = 11.0876 ,α=β=90°,γ= 96.8°.The chemical formula of ZnTiO is Zn1.3(Ti1.73O4) (OH)1.52 1.37H2O. ZnTiO lostwater when the temperature between 20 and 400℃, then transformed into the mixtureof Zn2Ti3O8and Rutile after calcined.
