The Wire Cut Electrical Discharge Machining (WEDM) is included in the nontraditional machining, which uses the pulse discharge machining workpieces. The cutting force during machining is small and the wire electrode is fine. So for the material with high hardness or high melting point and the special-shaped parts, it has irreplaceable advantages. With the development and popularization of Windows system, it has great practical significance to research and work out a NC System which is based on the Windows Platform with independent intellectual property rights. The paper mainly focuses on two critical technologies in NC system:taper machining and power-down protection. It is a feature of WEDM to process the tapered parts. This taper-cutting is studied systematically in this thesis. The taper processing is divided into two types:one is the normal taper and the other is machining the parts with different top and bottom shapes. Firstly, the work theory of normal taper was analyzed. Based on this, the cutting trajectory of upper and lower surfaces is calculated according to the shape information of the reference plane. Besides, the case in which the taper is variable during the machining is also researched. Finally, the corner error is compensated through modifying wire trajectory. If the power is suddenly off during the machining, one option is to be back to the starting points and relocation. But there is no guarantee for the precision. In order to solve this problem, power-down protection is realized after the research of the whole system. Through the storage and the reading of the information at the time of power-down, it can start machining at the same condition when the power is on again.
