Water is cheap and common has good performance in fire extinguished. It is widely used to fight the building fire, forest fire and stacking fire by the fire brigade as the main fire extinguishing agent. When water is used to fight the fire, it shows some deficiencies. So it’s necessary to add some reagents for changing the characters physical and chemic of water and Improving water fire fighting efficiency.Super absorbent resin (SAR) is a kind of high molecular polymer has strongly hydrophilic groups, some degree of cross-linking and the characteristics of high water absorption and water-retaining property. Using it with a certain proportion of water mixed will generate a gelatinous extinguisher. With the water of the resin evaporated, the temperature of fire will be down; The a certain viscous gelatinous extinguisher will glue in flammable solid surface and has the function of oxygen and heat insulation resistance. But the extinguisher mixed with SAR is electrolyte resistant, high temperature resistant, gel strength ability is poor.In this article cationic starch(HCS), acrylic acid(AA) and2-acrylamide-2methyl propane sulfonic acid(AMPS) were used as the monomer; kaolin, montmorillonoid,5A molecular sieve,13X molecular sieve were used as the modifier. By using initiating and crosslinking agent, the SAR was grafted and copolymerized. To begin with, In the preparation of the experimental process, the investigation concentrated on the different reaction conditions and reagent consumptions effect the ability of the production absorbing distilled water and tap water. Furthermore, IR, TG, and SEM were adopted to analyze the products in the different modify agent. Comparing the different modified products’ bibulous rate, functional groups, surface characteristics and heat resistance changes, find that modified products are better than the unmodified products in water absorbtion, heat resistance and electrolyte resistant ability. The product modified by13X molecular sieve is the best.Finally using product modified by13X molecular sieve and carboxymethyl cellulose(CMC) as a thickening agent are prepared different concentration extinguisher1and extinguisher2. According to GB4066.2-2004, the extinguisher1, extinguisher2and water as the extinguishers are tested. In this test the datas of temperature changing with time in the wood positive and two side are recorded; At the same time the phenomenon of using the different extinguisher to fight the fire also is recorded. Experimental data and phenomenon showed that extinguisher made by modified by13X molecular sieve is better than water in the extinguishing fire, restrain flame height and fired again.
